Sharing Jesus on Christmas Day: Five Simple Ideas to Spread the Joy

As I prepare for the festive season, I find myself contemplating the true meaning of Christmas and how I can share the love of Jesus with those around me. Here are five practical ideas to spread the joy of Jesus on Christmas Day. Christmas comes around once per year, be brave and be confident to share Jesus this festive season.

1. Share Your Story and Pray Before the Meal

Christmas gatherings provide a unique opportunity to share personal stories and offer prayers that reflect the true essence of the season. I suggests a simple grace that intertwines gratitude for the meal with a brief testimony of how knowing Jesus has transformed your life.

2. The Story of Jesus’ Birth by the Bible Project

For those unfamiliar with the Christmas story, I recommends utilising The Bible Project’s short videos, easily shareable on social media. By posting these videos along with a personal touch, we can initiate conversations about the true meaning of Christmas.

3. Thoughtful Social Media Posts

Crafting thought-provoking questions related to the Christmas story can stimulate discussions on social media platforms. I encourage you to engage your online communities with questions that prompt reflections on love, peace, goodwill, and the standards of Christ found in the Christmas narrative.

Here are some suggested questions:
Christmas is about love triumphing. How do you think love is the answer to our world?
Christmas is about the Peace Child. How could we live to promote world peace?
Jesus promoted peace and goodwill. Where do you think the world has gone wrong?
Christmas promotes the standards of Christ. What standards or values of the Christmas story do you like most?

4. Table Talk Discussion Cards

Adding a touch of fun to Christmas dinner, I suggest placing conversation starter cards on the tables. These lighthearted questions, ranging from favorite Christmas songs to cherished family traditions, create an atmosphere for sharing and laughter.

Here are some ideas:

*Christmas Table Questions

What is your favourite Christmas song and which Christmas song makes you cringe?
What is your favourite Christmas memory?
What is your favourite family tradition that isn’t related to a holiday?
What pieces of advice would you pass on to the next generation as they establish their own Christmas traditions?

*Where do these worlds come from, which Christmas carol?

The stars were brightly shining; it is the night of our dear saviours’ birth? (Oh, Holy Night)
O morning stars together, proclaim thy holy birth, And praises sing to God (O Little Town of Bethlehem)
Oh, come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem. Come and behold him (O Come All Ye Faithful)

5. Create a Christmas Playlist with Purpose

Harnessing the power of music, can I suggest creating a Christmas playlist that conveys the message of Christ. Whether it’s an overtly Christian carol or a classic holiday tune, curating a playlist can set the tone for a Christ-centered celebration.
