Discussion Questions
1. How does understanding that God has already accomplished salvation (John 19:30) change the way you approach evangelism? Reflect on what it means to “open people’s eyes” rather than “convince” them
Read: …to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me. (Acts 26:18)
2. In what ways can unity among believers help open people’s eyes to Jesus?
Read: I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one, as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. (John 17:21)
3. Who are 2–3 people in your life whose “eyes” you can begin praying for consistently this week?
Read: Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. You see, we don’t go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:4-6)
4. How can you grow in both speaking to God (prayer) and listening to God in your evangelism?
Read: My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27)
5. What fears or hesitations do you have about sharing the Gospel openly, and how can you bring these before God?
Read: For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes: the Jew first and also the Gentile. (Romans 1:16)
6. Where can you intentionally create space for both declaring and demonstrating the Gospel this week?
Read: And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs. (Mark 16:20)
7. What does loving your neighbour practically look like in your current season of life?
Read: In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:16)
